Secondary Doctrinal Issues

We are thrilled to stand on the Word of God and to declare its truth. Our mission statement is: Creation Today seeks to impact individuals to know our Creator God and to wholeheartedly experience, defend, and share Him through the foundations of Scripture.

At Creation Today, we believe that we have been called by God to present the truth of His word, from the very start of Genesis. We desire to help take an individual from whatever place he is on his God Quest journey, whether atheist or new believer, to a fully devoted follower of Christ.

God tells us, through the prophet Isaiah:

I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded you, though you have not known me: That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me.  I am the LORD, and there is none else. (Isaiah 45:5-6)

It is our joy to be able to point people towards the truth that there is but One God, and therefore One Way of Salvation.

Our mission underlines our work in proclaiming the truth of creation, as found in a literal historical-grammatical reading of Genesis and therefore is the reason why we point out to people the error of evolutionism. We stand on the complete authority, inerrancy, and infallibility of Scripture, maintaining that alternative interpretations of Genesis come about only by accepting extra-biblical ideas as more authoritative than God’s word.

During our time speaking on these issues, we have come across many people who tell us that the route God used to bring them to salvation involved them realizing that the early chapters of Genesis are historical and true. Such testimonies are always wonderful to hear.

Working in a parachurch ministry like Creation Today, we realize that we cannot take a stand on every issue. It may therefore be worth a brief comment explaining why we take a stand on some issues and not others. First, we must be true to what God has called us to do, and our energies, prayers and activities must not side-track us away from this calling.

Second, we recognize that there are secondary doctrinal issues, on which a parachurch ministry like ours cannot take a position. The reason for this is that there are Bible-believing Christians, whose authority on the subject of creation comes only from the Bible, who, nevertheless, differ on some of these secondary doctrinal issues. It is not that we think such issues are unimportant. On the contrary, many of us would look at such secondary doctrines very carefully in choosing which church we should attend. But Creation Today is not a church, and many who support our mission, as described above, and who agree with our Statement of Faith, might honestly hold differing opinions on the secondary doctrines. It is not that we as individuals do not feel equipped to handle questions generated by such issues. We are always equipped by the Holy Spirit to stand for our interpretations of God’s truth. It is that we choose to put aside our differences on secondary issues for the sake of the ministry’s mission.

Some of the issues on which we do not take a position would include such matters as Calvinism vs. Arminianism, how to interpret the gifts of the spirit, what would be the correct mode of baptism, differing views on how the Second Coming of Jesus will happen (though not the actual fact of the Second Coming, which is of primary importance) and which is the correct version of the Bible to use.

We realize that some of these secondary doctrinal issues matter a great deal to us as individuals, as well as to our supporters. However, we trust that you will understand why we cannot take a position on some issues as a ministry, and that you will see that there are many strong ministry supporters who hold differing opinions and interpretations of Scripture on secondary issues.

As Bible-believing Christians, we ask that you study our Statement of Faith, and join with us in the exciting mission that God has given us — to proclaim His truth and His power to a needy and sinful world.
