Creation Trip to Walnut Canyon led by Nate Loper

With walking tour covering the geological formations found there, including the Kaibab Limestone and crossbedding of the Coconino Sandstone. Talk also covering the history of the Sinuagua people who lived in the area and created the cliff dwellings seen there, as well as more recent history from the 1800’s to present time.
Tour will include stepped path down and back up. Short, but somewhat steep climb with lots of benches and stops to rest on the way back up.
When: Saturday, February 21, 2015
12-4 pm – Will be meeting in the Basha’s parking lot on left side at N. Humphrey’s St. and Ft. Valley Rd. Transportation is limited, so carpooling may be necessary. Please eat lunch before coming and bring water bottle.
