Researcher, Author, & Speaker
Dr. Danny R. Faulkner holds a B.S. in Mathematics (Bob Jones University), M.S. in Physics (Clemson University), and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Astronomy (Indiana University). For over a quarter of a century, he taught physics and astronomy at the University of South Carolina Lancaster serving as Chair of its Division of Math, Science, Nursing, and Public Health from 2009 – 2012. Dr. Faulkner retired as a full professor and holds the title of Distinguished Professor Emeritus.
Dr. Faulkner came to Christ as a six-year-old in Vacation Bible School and rededicated his life to Christ in high school. Loving astronomy almost immediately he came to realize three things: that one could make a living doing astronomy, that he had the ability to do just that, and that God had called him to this lifework.
His life continues to exemplify his dedication to his Savior and his research interest in stellar astronomy, particularly eclipsing binary stars, spotlight the demand for his writing projects. Having published more than a hundred papers in various astronomy and astrophysics journals, and having authored several books, Dr. Faulkner’s prolific pen’s place remains coveted among scientific libraries.
Dr. Faulkner has been married for more than 40 years to Lynette who volunteers at Answers in Genesis Creation Museum, and they have one adult son. Dr. Faulkner enjoys hiking, spelunking, coin collecting, driving his 1957 Chevy, cherry-flavored soft drink Cheerwin, watching classic TV and Clemson football. Ted E. Bear, his unique 60-year-old teddy bear traveling companion, accompanies him providing innovative Social Media posts from around the world where he sometimes gets into mischief!
