Dr. John Reese

Dr. John Reese is a Teaching Professor of History at Pensacola Christian College who has shaped Christian education since 1985. Raised on a dairy farm, he attended college on a soccer scholarship and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees before completing a doctorate in history at Florida State University. He became widely known as a foundational instructor for Abeka Academy, filming master history video courses that continue to educate thousands of traditional schools and homeschool students worldwide. On campus, he teaches core courses in United States history and civilization, and he founded the school’s annual History Seminars in 1994 to bring specialized historical topics and veteran guest speakers to students. His entire teaching philosophy relies on a providential view of history, which interprets global and national events as the unfolding of God’s timing. Through this framework, he emphasizes American exceptionalism, traditional constitutional interpretation, and the preservation of spiritual and political freedoms.
