Dr. Marcus Ross
Center for Creation Studies
Professor of Geology & Director
Growing up in Rhode Island, Marcus Ross developed a lifelong fascination with paleontology—especially dinosaurs. That early curiosity matured into formal scientific training, beginning with a B.S. in Earth Science from The Pennsylvania State University, followed by an M.S. in Paleontology from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and culminating in a Ph.D. in Geosciences from the University of Rhode Island.
His research focuses on mosasaurs, a group of extinct marine reptiles, while his broader scholarly interests engage questions surrounding the creation–evolution controversy and the ways geology intersects with the biblical accounts of Creation and Noah’s Flood. His highly sought-after expertise is featured in the film, “Is Genesis History,” in the book “Perspectives on the Historical Adam and Eve,” and in many speaking engagements and video interviews. From 2005 to 2021, he served as Professor of Geology and Director of the Center for Creation Studies at Liberty University, where the vertebrate paleontologist taught courses in Earth science, environmental science, geology, paleontology, and creation studies.
Dr. Ross currently serves as a Fellow of the Center and as CEO of Cornerstone Educational Supply. He lives in Lynchburg, Virginia, with his wife Corinna, where they homeschool their four children.
