Gavin Cox

Gavin Cox spent a decade in the international seismic and survey industries, exploring for oil and gas across more than a dozen countries. A 1991 graduate of the Camborne School of Mines in Minerals Engineering, Gavin later shifted his focus from the depths of the earth to the depths of Scripture. In 1999, he earned an honors degree in theology from the London Bible College, followed by a master’s in Biblical Studies from Exeter University in 2013 and a master’s in Egyptology from Birmingham University in 2015.

It was during his theology studies that Gavin first encountered evolutionary thinking—a “wake-up call” that ignited his passion to defend Genesis and the gospel against humanistic worldviews. What began as personal conviction soon became a calling. Gavin started sharing creation-themed presentations in churches across the UK, which led to more than five years of full-time ministry in creation apologetics, speaking throughout the UK and Europe.

As of June 2025, Gavin serves as a speaker and writer for Answers in Genesis–UK, where he continues to equip Christians with faith-building, gospel-centered truth. His particular expertise lies in Egyptology, with a focus on its fascinating connections to Creation and the Flood accounts in Genesis. Gavin resides in Leicestershire, UK with his wife, Mejoy, and son Zion.
