Dragons on Animal Planet

Shocking! Animal planet admits dragons once lived on earth!  Browsing through the Animal Planet website recently, I was shocked to see that it was featuring a new special on dragons!  It blew my mind that they would depict dragons and dinosaurs living at the same time when there is so much evidence that dragons and people lived at the same time. Don’t the producers/writers realize that this is evidence that will help us kill the sacred cow of Evolutionism? Don’t they see that this evidence and information goes against the grain of what many scientists believe today?

I am so glad that we never have to change our views of Scripture because of the “latest scientific find.”  God’s Word does not change. It is consistent and the source of all truth, in all times.  The Bible even tells us about Dinosaurs and Dragons so that we won’t be fooled by the lies of Satan. Just remember: One day, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!  To the GLORY of God.

    Oops, accidentally posted prematurely.

One last comment on your statement “I am so glad that we never have to change our views of Scripture because of the “latest scientific find”.”

Refusal to accept fact can lead to rather comfortable existence. Me, I’ll take reality instead.

    Come on.
This Animal Planet special is on mythology, not about how dragons really existed.
It’s probably about how skeletons of dinosaurs inspired people and how they created dragons out of it.

Please be real and do not change this into something it is not.

BTW, science is not just changing its view to fit in the latest find. If a finding contradicts our current theories, first we investigate why this is, and if necessary the theories are updated or abolished.
Due to our increasing knowledge, we can emend and adjust theories to incorporate things we did not know before.
The bible is an ancient book, which reflects the state of knowledge at that point in time.

Eric, surely you realize that for one, Animal Planet is not a scientific journal and does not necessary represent the scientific consensus in its programming (especially its entertainment shows such as this one) and two, nowhere in this program do they suggest that dragons are, nor were anything but a fantasy (less than 5 minutes of browsing the site you linked to would reveal this).

The show is intends to take aspects of common dragon myths and compare them actual living and extinct creatures, and to explore how some of these features (fire breathing for example) might be possible through known biological mechanisms.

Notice all the mights and possibles in there. This show is nothing but a fancyful, imaginative show where they use real science (science you spend your life protesting mind you) to speculate and entertain.

Isn’t this type of speculation one of the main problems you (wrongly) lambast scientists for? I guess that’s only if the don’t agree with

    Animal Planet =/= Science

Animal Planet is entertainment. To take anything they say as hard science or science at all is at best to be misinformed. Shall I take the “Left Behind” series and say that all Christians believe that a man named Nicolae Carpathia is going to take over the world soon? Or should I draw from Dekker’s Circle Series saying that all Christians believe that they live in a parallel dimension where they can learn fighting skills that help them out in this world? They used real Christian theology in both books, so that means that all Christians must believe everything in them.

Oh Eric. What part of “fantasy made real,” didn’t you understand?
They state very clearly in the video and the website that this is based on mythology, not “evidence.” You have really jumped the shark…

This isn’t evidence that will kill evolution. But it is evidence that you don’t bother to read anything, or even watch anything that isn’t 100% bible approved. I can’t wait to let everyone else know about this….

  6. David Ray August 20, 2010 at 1:40 pm #

Did you even notice the subtitle of the show?
    “Dragons: A Fantasy Made Real.”

Did you even read the description?
“The network’s first venture into the exploration of _mythical_ animals.”
“The creators of [the show] bring these _mythical_ animals to life.”
The show “imagines dragons as real animals.”
The makers “reveal how they combined legend, scientific fact, and theory, CGI animation and cutting edge special effects to create creatures so convincing, you’d swear they were real.”

Really Eric? Really? A show on Animal Planet is going to help “kill the sacred cow of Evolutionism?” A show on Animal Planet is going to overturn 150 years of scientific progress? Here I am, trying very hard to take you seriously, and then you post this.

    Ahh, Eric,

Many here attack you for such a simple article. They forget that it takes more than just reading this article to understand the full context of what you are writing about. The evidence for dinosaur and man living in the same time period is over whelming. If your opponents would only study you and CSE’s work then perhaps they could bring something other than strawman attacks to the table. Keep doing what you are doing, the truth will always prevail.

  9. donald ray stanton August 21, 2010 at 10:43 am #

You know the bible says that God created all creatures that crawl, fly and swim and walk. He is our creator and if people can’t accept this then I feel sorry for them. I just hope that the so called scientist of our modern world will wake up and see the truth of the lies that has been taught to our children. If this helps in telling the truth about evolution then I am all for it. I am no scientist or anything of the sort I am just a dumb carpenter that belives in the bible and that God has a reason for everything that happens good or bad

  10. Jack Napper August 21, 2010 at 2:12 pm #

“Many here attack you for such a simple article.”

Oh that’s right, we should let things slide so long as you can label it simple.

“They forget that it takes more than just reading this article to understand the full context of what you are writing about.”

    This should be good.

“The evidence for dinosaur and man living in the same time period is over whelming.”

REALLY!?!?? Overwhelming (one word)? I must say that I am impressed at your ability to hide it away. Here’s your chance.

“If your opponents would only study you and CSE’s work then perhaps they could bring something other than strawman attacks to the table. ”

So ignore real science? And what ‘work’ are you referring to? What strawman arguments? Do you even know what a strawman is?

“People gave ear to an upstart astrologer who strove to show that the earth revolves, not the heavens or the firmament, the sun and the moon. Whoever wishes to appear clever must devise some new system, which of all systems is of course the very best. This fool [or 'man'] wishes to reverse the entire science of astronomy; but sacred Scripture tells us that Joshua commanded the sun to stand still, and not the earth.”

    – Martin Luther

“Those who assert that ‘the earth moves and turns’…[are] motivated by ‘a spirit of bitterness, contradiction, and fault finding;’ possessed by the devil, they aimed ‘to pervert the order of nature.'”

    – John Calvin

“I am so glad that we never have to change our views of Scripture because of the “latest scientific find.”

You know, they probably said the same thing.

I find fit interesting that individuals who do not people that God exits, spend some much effort trying to convince Christians otherwise.Ponder this for a moment if a groufp of people started to worship “Snoopy” as their lord and saviour would it upset you? I don’t think so. The real question for all the atheists and agnostics, what are you really afraid of?

  13. Lloyd Gayle August 21, 2010 at 7:55 pm #

Please forgive my typos my laptop was about to shutdown, so I was in a mega rush.

  14. Lloyd Gayle August 21, 2010 at 8:03 pm #

I have a question for the atheists and agnostics who attack this site, if there is no such thing as “God’ then there is no such thing as right or wrong. Each and every individual decides what is right or wrong. Therefore if you have ever been cheated on by your spouse or significant other, robbed, raped, beaten, shot at, swindled out of money, etc. you should never be upset. Why because the person or persons who so called wrong you really didn’t. Remember in your “world” there is no absolute wrong or right. You can’t have it both ways.

  15. H. Bosma August 22, 2010 at 7:16 am #

    @ Eric Kiser,

Huh? Evidence of humans and dinosaurs living together???

Please show us, because I have never encountered it.

Human and dinosaur remains have never been found in the same layers of sediment at all. First and most obvious evidence they have never lived together.

  16. Jon Richt August 23, 2010 at 9:43 am #

    God’s Word does not change.

So bats are birds? The earth is at the center of the universe? Whales are fish? Hares chew their cud? Why do you not argue the inerrancy of these statements, Mr. Hovind?

  17. Jon Richt August 23, 2010 at 9:50 am #

Lloyd Gale wrote the following: if a group of people started to worship “Snoopy” as their lord and saviour would it upset you? I don’t think so.

I do. Depending on what they did based on these beliefs, it would bother me very much.

If they simply got together every tuesday (Snoopy had it declared the ‘Day of Napping’) and read of their lord’s exploits, I would probably do/say nothing. If instead they spent time trying to tell me why Snoopy was worth my worship, and that failing to worship him doomed me to an eternity of mange and fleas, and that the schools all needed to be single room buildings painted white upon which statues of Snoopy would ride – I would most definitely be criticizing them.

  18. Nigel McNaughton August 23, 2010 at 3:34 pm #

We wouldn’t protest people worshiping snoopy if they kept to themselves and didn’t try to infest laws and schools with it.

Lloyd, so to you stuff can only be wrong if God tells you it’s wrong? You don’t see anything wrong with cheating, robbery, rape, etc. It’s only wrong because God tells you it is?

    Wow that’s amazing.

So when God changes his mind again about what is wrong and right (you know, like slavery), you will just change with him?

  19. Jack Napper August 24, 2010 at 12:02 am #

“Why because the person or persons who so called wrong you really didn’t. Remember in your “world” there is no absolute wrong or right. You can’t have it both ways.”

I love that people think you cannot have any reference to right and wrong without an imaginary daddy figure threatening you with hellfire.

So then, lets first recall that for something to be absolute it must :
    1.) Exist Independently
2.) Exist not in relation to other things
3.) Exist not relative to other things
4.) Be true for every possible circumstance

A.) State an absolute RIGHT or WRONG
B.) Demonstrate for us how it satisfies 1 – 4 above
C.) Show how it is not “Systemic”

  20. Bethany Willis August 24, 2010 at 9:26 am #

(quoting Nigel McNaughton)”So when God changes his mind again about what is wrong and right (you know, like slavery), you will just change with him?”
God never changes! Amen and Amen! God is the same yesterday, today, and forever!
He wasn’t saying he thought that rape, robbery, ect weren’t wrong he was saying that if that person who committed those acts didn’t think they were wrong then you shouldn’t be angry because they just went along with what they thought of as right and wrong!

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, does it?

  22. Lesley Dalgleish August 25, 2010 at 3:30 am #

Lloyd Gale wrote – “if there is no such thing as “God” then there is no such thing as right or wrong.”

Why? Shouldn’t humanity as a whole or on an individual level decide what is right and wrong based on the moral obligation that we have to each other, not simply what was written in a book. In your world does right and wrong only exist because of “God” and not due to your own morals?

Eric Kiser wrote -“The evidence for dinosaur and man living in the same time period is over whelming.”

Overwhelming? Hmm, I’d like to see some of this “overwhelming” evidence Eric, perhaps you could link us to a site or suggest a book on the topic? I, however, have only ever seen evidence to the contrary.
