Have you ever heard of catechisms? Maybe you learned them growing up, and have fond memories of reciting catechisms with siblings or friends. Or perhaps you have heard of them, but never really learned much about them besides what your Catholic grandmother taught you. Maybe you have never heard of this funny word at all, and are wondering why Creation Today is doing some show about cats and chasms! Wherever you land, you don’t want to miss this week’s conversation with Israel Wayne.

In “Israel Wayne and the Secrets of the Lost Art”, author and director of the ministry Family Renewal, Israel Wayne, teaches us all about the importance of this lost art of catechisms. Now, in case you were still wondering, a catechism is a method of teaching using questions and answers, and is often used in reference to religious beliefs. There are many misconceptions surrounding catechisms, but, thankfully, Mr. Wayne does a fabulous job of correcting those and replacing them with the truth of this beautiful art of teaching.

Using his book “Foundational Truths: A Modern Catechism”, Mr. Wayne explains the importance of teaching solid doctrine and theology to your children from an early age. Although it can seem like a daunting task, this book simplifies the process of teaching doctrine and apologetics to people of all ages. Through a series of questions and answers supported by Scripture, his book lays out foundational truths in a simple and easy-to-understand way.

Mr. Wayne even walks through several of the catechisms in the book, and explains why they are important, clarifies any questions about them, and gives helpful tips on how to teach and help others memorize them. It is truly such an uplifting conversation that encourages people to learn the truth for themselves, and share it with others. If you want to be encouraged and inspired to know God and dig deeper into His Word, schedule some time this week to tune into this conversation.
