Is it possible that some of the most fundamental concepts that promote human flourishing can be discovered in the Bible? On top of that, can those truths be revealed through the careful study of a crime scene or a piece of evidence? If you’re intrigued by this line of questioning, you’re going to want to get ready for an incredible conversation with cold case homicide detective, J. Warner Wallace.
On this week’s installment of the Creation Today Show, we discuss Detective Wallace’s newest book, The Truth in True Crime, and how he discovered moral truths through his time working cold cases. But let me let you in on a little secret. This book is actually a Bible study disguised as a crime book! You will get so much Biblical truth that Detective Wallace picked up from his experiences working gang crimes and homicides.
For example, Detective Wallace discusses the need to address human suffering and struggle regardless of your worldview. However, when you look at all the evil in the world without the lens of God and the Bible, none of it makes sense or could contribute to a higher purpose. In the atheistic worldview, the horrors of true crime are just the result of random, evolutionary processes.
But let’s reevaluate the situation when we look at it through the lens of God and His Word. The truth is that we ALL are going to struggle. But if your worldview does not include abundant resources to deal with suffering, your Christianity is bankrupt. According to the Bible, the struggles and suffering of this life serve to grow and strengthen our identity in Christ and push us to worship the One True King. And not only that, but the Bible gives us resources to deal with suffering. We can cast our burdens on Christ. We can pray for His peace and seek His wisdom. We can go continually to the Father in prayer.
There’s so much more truth packed inside this conversation, and you don’t want to miss any of it! You will be convicted, humbled, and encouraged to pursue Christ in a new way through this conversation. So be sure to schedule some time into your week to listen to this incredible conversation.
