From Atheism to Theism: Why Your Faithful Witness Still Matters
“Could it be that the loudest voices against God are actually the closest to finding Him?”
That question echoed through a recent episode of the Creation Today Show—an episode that took an unexpected and deeply moving turn.
Meet Bill Kluck.
For decades, Bill was a devout churchgoer—until he wasn’t. After nearly 40 years in church, he walked away, disillusioned and unconvinced. For years, Bill identified as an atheist and co-led the Atheist & Christian Book Club, engaging regularly in respectful but pointed debates against Christian beliefs.
But something changed.
Not overnight. Not with one conversation. Not with a clever meme or a one-liner.
It changed through six years of honest, consistent, faithful conversations.
And that’s the point.
Evangelism and apologetics are rarely about quick results. They’re about faithfulness.
In our conversation, Bill shared what ultimately caused the cracks in his atheism: the scientific evidence for fine-tuning in the universe. When he realized the structure of matter, the forces of nature, and the constants of physics were precisely calibrated for life, he had to ask: Why?
No longer could he accept the atheist’s fallback of “brute fact” or the hand-waving comfort of “multiverse” theory. It was Daniel Ray from Watchman Fellowship who introduced him to the book A Fortunate Universe—a turning point that, combined with dozens of other God-ordained moments, led Bill to finally say, live on our show:
“I am a theist. I do believe in God. Full stop.”
That statement floored me.
This wasn’t a staged conversation. I didn’t know he would say it. But it shows the power of truth spoken in love—again and again.
The Truth? You Don’t Know Who’s Listening.
You might wonder if your efforts are making a difference. You’ve had conversations with skeptics. You’ve shared your faith with that friend, coworker, or relative—only to get silence, sarcasm, or stiff resistance in return.
But here’s what this episode proved:
You never know when your words will be the ones God uses to awaken someone’s heart.
Bill didn’t become a theist because someone “won” a debate. He became a theist because people kept showing up. Because people loved him, respected him, and challenged him to think deeply and honestly.
The Work of Evangelism and Apologetics Is Worth It.
We often say “turn stumbling blocks into stepping stones.” But sometimes, those stones are laid one by one—over years.
Your consistent witness matters. Your apologetics training matters. Your support of ministries that equip believers to defend their faith matters.
We want to challenge and encourage you:
Don’t stop sharing.
Don’t stop praying.
Don’t stop speaking truth.
The Gospel is powerful. The evidence is compelling. And hearts are still being changed.
Let this story be a reminder: God is still in the business of reaching hearts—even those that seem farthest away.
