Is Culture Sick? How Wokeness Became a Spiritual Virus
Something’s seriously wrong with our world — and no, it’s not just politics. As Eric Hovind said on our latest Creation Today Show, “Common sense has caught a virus… and that virus is wokeness.”
We’re living in a time when “men” can supposedly get pregnant, math is “racist,” and you need a Ph.D. just to figure out which bathroom to use. It’s not just confusion — it’s a worldview meltdown. Eric sat down with Answers in Genesis speaker, and author of the book “Woke Injustice” Bryan Osborne for a powerful talk about what’s really behind all this madness, and where it began. Spoiler alert: it’s not new.
This isn’t just a culture problem. It’s a spiritual sickness that started the moment humanity decided it didn’t need God.
Tracing the Infection Back to Its Roots
From schools rewriting history books, to corporations waving rainbow flags for an entire month, to pastors trying to “deconstruct”
Scripture — the symptoms are everywhere. But the disease itself? It started all the way back in Genesis 3, when man decided to define truth for himself.
That was humanity’s first “I identify as…” moment. Adam and Eve wanted to call the shots, and ever since then, the human heart’s been in open rebellion against the Creator.
How Sick Are We, Really?
Let’s just say the fever’s high.
Our culture says there’s no right or wrong anymore — just “your truth” and “my truth.” Listen, you can believe gravity is oppressive all you want; if you jump off a building, you’ll still hit the ground. Truth doesn’t care about feelings.
As Eric and Bryan pointed out, woke ideology has turned logic upside down. We’re told men can compete in women’s sports, kids can choose their gender, and that “equity” means punishing some people for the color of their skin. It’s not justice. It’s neo-Marxism dressed in moral language.
When Justice Isn’t Justice
In the woke worldview, everything is about power — who has it, who doesn’t, and how to flip the script. “White”? You’re the oppressor. Male? Double the guilt. Christian? Definitely the problem.
Their so-called “justice” isn’t about fairness; it’s about revenge. Take from one group, give to another, and call it righteousness. But that’s not justice — that’s recycled Marxism. And it’s designed to divide.
Even some churches are falling for it. Sermons about sin and salvation are being replaced with lectures about privilege and social equity. But God’s Word doesn’t need to borrow ideas from the world. The Gospel already unites every tribe, tongue, and nation under Christ.
A Culture in Rebellion
At the root of it all is the same old sin: man trying to play God.
We’ve replaced “Thus says the Lord” with “Follow your heart.” And now our world can’t tell the difference between love and lust, equality and chaos, freedom and moral freefall.
When a society cuts itself off from its Creator, it loses its compass. That’s why we see so much confusion, division, and despair. But as Eric and Bryan reminded us, we don’t need to panic. When culture drifts, we don’t drift with it — we anchor deeper into God’s Word.
The Cure Is Still the Gospel

If the problem started in Genesis, the cure starts there too. Genesis 1–11 gives us the foundation for everything — who we are, why we matter, what went wrong, and how to make it right.
The real cure for wokeness isn’t political, it’s spiritual. It’s the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Because this isn’t a skin issue or a social issue — it’s a sin issue.
Only when we return to the truth of Scripture, will we find the standard that doesn’t shift with the headlines. God’s truth doesn’t evolve. It stands forever.
A Conversation Worth Hearing
Episode #444 “Is Culture Sick” wasn’t just a discussion — it was a diagnosis and a prescription.
Eric Hovind and Bryan Osborne pull no punches. They expose how woke culture distorts justice, mocks truth, and replaces God with self — and they point us right back to the cure that never fails.
If you’ve been watching the chaos and wondering, What happened to common sense?, this episode will help you see that it all goes back to one thing: our view of the Creator.
If you want to feel encouraged, equipped, and ready to stand on truth — even in a world gone woke, we highly recommend watching this and other episodes of the Creation Today Show where God’s Word never gets canceled.
